COMMUNITY GREENING WINS IMPACT 100

by Mark Cassini on May 29, 2020

Community Tree Champion Program

We are thrilled to win Impact 100 Palm Beach County for the Environment. This $100,000 grant funds a Community Tree Champion (Dondre McCrary pictured above) to promote trees with residents and youth in neighborhoods with a low tree canopy. As part of this program, Dre will travel to learn from the leading urban forestry programs in the country, get a new work truck, and lead the Youth Tree Team.  Kids are going to look up to Dre and listen to him when he says “Trees Matter”. This is a big win for our community and we will all benefit from this investment for years to come.  Thank you for this opportunity to carry out our mission.

Youth Tree Team

THE YOUTH TREE TEAM EMPLOYS LOCAL YOUTH TO IMPROVE THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD, TO LEARN ABOUT GREEN JOBS, AND TO TEACH THEM TO BE GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDS OF THE LAND. THE TEENS GET THEIR FIRST WORK EXPERIENCE BY MAINTAINING TREES AND PUBLIC GREEN SPACES, CONDUCTING COMMUNITY OUTREACH, AND ATTENDING “GREEN COLLAR” ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES.

Impact 100

Impact 100 of southern Palm Beach County provides a philanthropic opportunity for women to join together and make a big impact. Through high-impact grant-making and efficient philanthropy, we engage, develop and inspire women to create positive change.

All it takes is One Woman, One Meeting, One Vote.
