HOLLY JOLLY TREE PLANTERS

by Mark Cassini on January 5, 2021

Saturday morning was a barn raising! It took a community effort of all ages to plant 90 trees in Mike Machek Boy Scout Park as part of the City of Delray Beach‘s 10,000 Tree Campaign. First timers, regulars, old people, young people, Lt. Daniela Quinn and her friends from City of Delray Beach Police Department, the Cub Scouts Pack 333, Atlantic H.S. IB Program…everyone came out to dig in and plant trees along the Lake Ida Corridor. The trees have a beautiful new home along the Lake Ida Corridor. Everyone worked hard and filled up their karma bank to spend over the holiday break.

Delray Beach is a small city on Florida’s southeast coast. The Pineapple Grove Arts District is dotted with public art and galleries. Nearby, Cornell Art Museum displays contemporary works. The lakeside Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens offers tea ceremonies, calligraphy workshops and serene outdoor spaces. Wakodahatchee Wetlands is a park featuring a raised boardwalk with views of birds, turtles and alligators.
