Schedule:                     Up to 28 hours a week, Saturdays required
Compensation:          $21 – 23/hour

About Us
Community Greening is an urban forestry non-profit based in Palm Beach County that has planted more than 8,000 trees with 4,500 volunteers since 2016.  Community Greening is a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees, a group of community-based organizations dedicated to the planting and caring of trees. Programming includes tree plantings at parks, schools, churches, right of ways, urban orchards, tree giveaways and the Youth Tree Team.

Duties and responsibilities:
With direction and support from the Co-Founders:

  1. Recruit, train, and supervise the Youth Tree Team program participants (high school students working up to 8 hours a week in fall and spring semesters, up to 20 hours a week in the summer)
  2. Plan activities that align with Youth Tree Team programming objectives, including tree planting, tree maintenance, and enrichment activities
  3. Maintain required records and data for grant reporting and program assessment, including but not limited to pre/post testing, timesheets, trees planted via Tree Plotter software, program expenditures, participant surveys
  4. Ensure proper maintenance and care of assigned vehicles, trailers, and tools, including inventory and maintenance
  5. Arrange call-before-you-dig for assigned plantings, including residential planting with the Youth Tree Team
  6. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, natural resources, urban forestry, forestry, horticulture or related discipline, or an equivalent amount of education and experience
    1. Minimum of 1 year experience in youth development or education preferred
    2. Knowledge of Florida tree species and ecology preferred
  2. Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pull a trailer
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  4. Experience formulating and adhering to set project budgets preferred
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively
  6. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that requires repetitive bending, lifting, and shoveling
  7. Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
