Compensation: Starting at $25/hour

About Community Greening:
Community Greening is an urban forestry nonprofit based in Palm Beach County that has planted and distributed more than 21,000 trees since 2016. Community Greening is a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees, a group of community-based organizations dedicated to the planting and caring of trees. Programming includes tree plantings in neighborhoods parks and schools; urban orchards; tree giveaway programs; and the Youth Tree Team.
Community Greening envisions an engaged community creating sustainable urban green spaces and a vibrant tree canopy to equitably strengthen our environment, economy, society, and health.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Serve as the local contact for Community Greening’s urban forestry activities in the Glades Region.
a) Serve as primary community contact for the Resilient Tree Campaign. - Engage residents in the Resilient Glades Tree Campaign including tree giveaways and tree plantings in Pahokee, South Bay, and Belle Glade.
a) Participate in planting and giveaway events and assist with data collection and volunteer registration. - Attend public events and meetings, generate resident interest in and solicit feedback regarding Resilient Glades Tree Campaign activities.
a) Communicate with community groups to select tree species, tree giveaway locations, and urban orchard location. - Maintain required records and data for grant reporting and program assessment, including but not limited to pre/post testing, timesheets, trees planted via Tree Plotter software, program expenditures, participant surveys.
- Participate in staff meetings at Community Greening main office and nursery when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school degree or equivalent required
- Knowledge of the Glades region required
- Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) required
- Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 pounds repetitively
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that requires repetitive bending, lifting, and shoveling
- Comfortable working daily outside in all weather conditions
- Willingness and ability to put safety first
- Willingness to work as part of a team and effectively communicate with other team members
- Ability to be an example of integrity and create a respectful work environment with others
- Ability to represent Community Greening
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate mature decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively and efficiently maintain and complete projects
